Buffalo County Recycling Brochure.  This brochure will answer many of your questions regarding Buffalo County’s Single-Stream program regarding what is recyclable, where the recycling centers are to take them to, and the costs associated with certain items.  Click on the link above for more information. 

Electronics Recycling Program  Electronics may be taken to either the City of Mondovi Recycling Center or the BBC & M Recycling Center in Cochrane for recycling/disposal. Fees associated with various items and further information is listed in the link above. 

Unacceptable (Non-Recyclable) Items Disposal    Items that are not recyclable and/or difficult to dispose of are accepted at the City of Mondovi, BBC & M Cochrane facility, and the Town of Nelson sites only - unless otherwise indicated.  Fees for their disposal are also listed.  Click on the link above for pricing details.  Please not that all fees are subject to change without notice.

Demolition Materials (Construction/Building Materials Waste)  Disposal is available at BBC & M Recycling Center in Cochrane and the City of Mondovi Recycling site.  The Town and Village of Nelson do not accept demolition material.  Prices may vary, please contact site for cost.

Mondovi Recycling Center.  The Recycling Center in the City of Mondovi is open every Thursday from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and every Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.

Household Hazardous Waste (Clean Sweep)

Buffalo County holds a “Clean Sweep” event every two years, with the next one anticipated in 2020. Below is information on Eau Claire County’s program, and WRR Environment Resources on Hwy 93 in Eau Claire will also take household hazardous waste on an ongoing basis, but an appointment is required, and there is a cost factor, depending on what is being disposed of.

Events are held on the second Saturday of May, July, September and Novembereach year.  Hours 8:00a.m. – 12:00p.m.

Materials accepted at no fee include:
• Household cleaners
• Pesticides, fungicides, herbicides, fertilizers
• Paint (oil-based), thinners, varnish

Materials accepted for a fee include:
• Aerosol cans
• Anti-freeze
• Dry cell batteries
• Latex paint
