~Our Mission~
The mission of the
Buffalo County Aging Unit is to represent the views and interests of older
people in County decisions. It shall be responsible for identifying
and promoting ways for older people to contribute to the community's
general welfare. It shall assure that all activities are carried out
in a comprehensive and coordinated fashion and shall develop, maintain,
and coordinate aging programs which focus on providing the aged with
access to services, benefits, and opportunities that are available in the
community.
Services are to be
provided in a manner and an amount that will allow older persons in
Buffalo County to maximize their independence throughout their life time.
Within reason, the older person should be allowed to determine the kind of
service they need, and the extent of that need. Care should be taken
to assess the current natural caregiving system, and to build on that
system, if possible.

~Aging Unit Profile~
The Buffalo County
Aging Unit is part of the County's Department of Health and Human Services
and encourages Buffalo County Seniors to stay active and involved in life,
through volunteering and participating in our Congregate Meal program.
Seniors not only receive a warm meal at our Dining Centers, but more
importantly benefit by the socialization with other seniors in their
community.
